A Danish Parliamentary delegation concluded a visit to Jordan

Amman (womeninjordan) A Danish Parliamentary delegation from the Immigration, Integration and Housing Committee
visited Jordan from the 7 – 11 March 2016. Through the visit, the delegation had very fruitful
meetings mainly with First Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament, Mr. Mustafa Al­Amawi,
and the Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Eng. Imad Fakhoury,according to a press release issued by Danish Program office in Amman.
“I would like to thank Jordan for the good cooperation with Denmark. Our cooperation is not only
about fighting terrorism and helping refugees, it is also about trade. For the time being, a trade
delegation from Denmark is planning to visit Jordan in late May in order to discuss how we can
strengthen trade between our two kingdoms”, says Martin Henriksen, Chairman of the Immigration,
Integration and Housing Committee.
The visit to Jordan has been both inspiring and very rewarding. The visit to Za’atari refugee camp
provided an opportunity for the Committee to see how a refugee camp works in practice. The
Committee met also with Danish organizations in Jordan such as Actionaid
­Denmark and the Danish Refugee Council as well as UNHCR and UNDP to hear about their
experiences and the services they offer to refugees.
The Danish delegation comprised members of the Danish Parliament’s Immigration, Integration and
Housing Committee; Chairman, Martin Henriksen, Daniel Toft Jacobsen, Dan Jørgensen, Jan E.
Jørgensen, Johanne Schmidt­Nielsen, Ulla Sandbæk, Sofie Carsten Nielsen, Jacob Mark and Rasmus
Jarlov.
