Jordanian experts in Juvenile Justice prepare for World Congress —Swiss Embassy

Ammn(womeninjordan)—- With the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Jordan and Terre des hommes
Lausanne, a dozen of experts in juvenile justice, belonging to national and international
organizations, met today at the Bristol hotel in Amman to prepare together the second
juvenile justice world congress that will take place from 26th to 30th of January 2015 in
Geneva.
The juvenile justice world congress, co-organized by the Swiss Confederation and Terre des
hommes Lausanne, will aim at promoting the implementation of international norms and
standards protecting children in conflict with the law through the exchange of experiences,
innovations and best practices. State actors and civil society organizations will be invited to
improve cooperation between all relevant stakeholders at the national, regional and
international levels.
The delegations of Terre des hommes Lausanne worldwide, with the collaboration of Swiss
official representations, organized preparatory consultations with professionals in their
countries of intervention. The preparatory consultation that took place in Amman on 16th of
December afternoon was planned under this process. It was a great success that enabled
juvenile justice experts to define the existing good practices and to formulate recommendations
regarding the role of families in proceedings within the juvenile justice system in Jordan. The
outcomes of this preparatory consultation will be shared with the different experts and
moderators in charge of facilitating the congress. The minutes of the different sessions,
together with additional material gathered before and during the event, will then be made
available on the website of the congress: http://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/en/cmjj.html
